All -
I have a great update for you! I saw Marvin the other day and he was doing great! He looked really good ands he had walked 5 miles! I’m expecting that when we start back at rehearsal he’ll be his normal self and ask about using his own tempo!!
Both he and Vicki said how meaningful it has been to receive such wonderful cards and notes and texts checking in and offering prayers for him. Vicki showed me a beautiful stack of cards!
Anyway, just wanted to give you a positive update!!!
Stay warm or cool out whatever temperature makes you happy!
Pamela
Since I've been the bearer of bad news today, I thought I would share some good news! Marvin got through surgery and the surgery was successful! I don't know what the next step will be, but this was a huge one! I think he came through so well because I promised him that for the first song of our Holiday music, I'd let him choose the tempo! (OK, well maybe only one time for that one song for one rehearsal, but I'm not going to tell him that part until we start singing!! Mum's the word!)
Anyway, I thought you all might appreciate a bit of good news for the day!

Dear Singers -
I heard from Marvin that his MRI results were not what they wanted, so he is going to be having brain surgery on April 29th at Mayo. He'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days afterwards. They are very confident with the surgeon they have, and his brother (Norm) and sister-in-law (Kathy Sheridan) were back home in Michigan but are coming back for the surgery. They will be with Vicki during the surgery and to help afterwards.
Time to get prayers going again...and to drop a card or a note, if you can! Here is his address:

Please keep Marvin in your prayers as he faces this newest issue. I'll let you know once I hear an update.

Everyone -
Marvin has had a bit of a complication. He was hoping to go home today but he developed a blood clot in his right leg and even though they did everything they could to prevent it, the clot traveled to his lungs. He is having shortness of breath, and they are giving him heparin shots to keep it from getting any worse. They are going to put in an IVC filter to prevent any more movement.
Folks, Marvin is in need of prayers of encouragement, blood clot dissolving, good healing, and anything else you can think of to pray for that would help him get through this!
Thanks, all - I know we have MANY prayer warriors out there, go please add Marvin into your prayer!
Stay well,
Pamela

Marvin made it through surgery today and everything went exactly as they wanted! That's wonderful news! All visible tumor was removed, and the margins were complete. Vicki saw him in recovery, and he was already talking, so that's a first step toward singing! Probably by tonight he'll sound just like a bass....or maybe in another week or two! Whatever the time, it doesn't matter - we're just happy he got through and came out with flying colors! That's a win in anyone's book!
Vicki sent me the attached picture - I think he looks great!
Anyway, keep him in your prayers as he starts his road to recovery. Keep the cards coming.....give him some reading material for when he gets home!
Please all, stay well!
Pamela

Dear Singers -
So, your prayers are needed again! (and cards & notes are definitely welcomed as well!) Marvin will be having surgery on July 30th at the Mayo Clinic, Arizona. His recent MRI showed a regrowth of the brain tumor that was successfully resected in 2021. They are going to get that thing out of there so he can continue with his life. He has great confidence in his surgeon and where it will be taking place, so we can all have that as well! I love Marvin's humor - he told me that one of his favorite sayings has been "I need that like I need a hole in my head'. Well, this will be his 3rd hole! Fortunately, when they put him back together and pack up the hole, they fill in even more musical talent! No wonder he's such a strong bass!
All kidding aside, both Vicki (alto) and Marvin need your prayers! This is obviously not an easy time for them, but we can help support them and give them love and prayers! He will probably spend 2-3 nights in the hospital and be feeling better within a couple of weeks. He can actually take all the time he needs....until we start singing again in September! :)

Thanks for sharing a bit of your heart with Marvin & Vicki! I'll send an update once he's had the surgery.
