Grand Singers & Chorale -
The next best thing to Music Pickup Day is the first day of practice! It's kind of like the first day of school - you come with your music all numbered, a sharp pencil and excitement to see everyone again! Well, tomorrow is Music Pickup Day!
Unfortunately, I will miss it. (I need one of those icons of a sad face with tears rolling down the face here!) Ziggy spent last week in the hospital, first at Del Webb and then they transferred her down to University Hospital. The short version is that she slipped, and her eye took a direct hit. She fractured the upper part of the orbit (the part that holds your eyeball!) and developed a decent sized hematoma at the fracture site. It wasn't a fun week, and it has been pretty painful for her. The good news is she didn't break the lower part or that would have meant an automatic surgery, but the bad news is that it can take 4-6 weeks to heal on its own, and every time she moves her eyes to look to the left or the right, it's like irritating an injury all over again! So, this eye specialist (who is down off the I10 past R51!) wanted to see her within a few days of her coming home and of course, the only time they could squeeze her into a schedule that is booked through the remainder of 2025 is on Wednesday, at 12:45. Go figure! Anyway, her vision is pretty important, and she can't drive that on her own, so I will miss tomorrow.
We have a wonderful team of singers who will be greeting you all with bells on their shoes and smiles on their faces! OK, maybe not literally the bells part, but for sure the smiles part!
There will be practice CDs and parts CDs but also know that the music is already up on the website. Martha Hutton and Gayle Isley have created a Grand Singers page for us, so that's super exciting! Go to the Activities Page and you'll see Grand Singers. On that page you will always be able to find the most current emails that I send out, the music links and the current schedule. It will continue to grow, so if you think of something that you would love to have there, just let us know and I'm sure these gals can make it happen!
I can't wait to see you next Wednesday, at the first day of school!!! (I mean, the first day of choir!)
Have fun tomorrow! I'll miss you......
