Celebration of Music
Auditions for the November, 2011 show will be April 18th 4-8 & 19th 6-8.
Auditions are required for acceptance to perform in the "Celebration of Music" show. The Director makes the decision regarding which acts will be in the show and in which order.
Summer Showcase (shows are Aug 20 & 21)
Auditions: May 23rd & 25th 5:00-9:00 in the Sonoran Plaza
Donna Mills (556-1005) and Marv Myhre (975-2701) will be sharing the Music Club's portion (Drama Club is sharing sponsorship of this show with us) of this
production, and we look forward to hearing from you about participating
in this show.
Think of putting together a vocal ensemble, trio, quartet, etc. -- or an
instrumental solo or combo. Remember, this doesn't need to be an
existing group; this can be a "one-time" only number with minimal rehearsal
time and no future commitments. We will be happy to help put an idea that
you might have into production.
In keeping with the "good old summertime" theme, we want this to be a fun,
relaxing time for all participants
Let us know what we can do to help.
Chorus: Grand Singers and Chorale
Auditions are not required to join the Chorus ("Grand Singers"). The Chorus Council meets in the first part of September to establish cutoff dates for joining the Chorus for the season and to schedule auditions for the Chorale (a subgroup of the Grand Singers). Chorale audition times will be announced at Grand Singers rehearsals.

Preparing an Act for the Celebration of Music
- Learn the theme of the Celebration show and choose your song or develop your performance so that it fits in with this theme.
- Make sure your performance is not too long — usually about 3 minutes is fine, with some exceptions running longer.
- Combining movement with your song/performance will make it more interesting.
- Practice, practice, practice. Be as polished as you can be by audition time.
- If your performance uses background music, bring your CD to the audition.
During the Audition
- You will be given a time for your audition (typically a 15-minute slot). Come early. You will need enough time to fill out some forms and to gather yourself together before going into the auditorium.
- If you will be wearing a costume and you have it, wear it to the audition. If you don't have it yet, bring a description or picture of what it will look like and show that to the Director.
- Bring any props that you will need with you if you have them. If not, be prepared to describe what your act will require.
- Take a deep breath. Relax. Enjoy yourself.
