Bad Cactus Brass Band - Brings the Big Easy - Saturday, February 4, 2012 - Cash Bar at 6:00 p.m. - Performance at 7:00 p.m. / Land-locked Arizona may be a long way from the sights and sounds of New Orleans' Mardi Gras, but we've come close with the appearance of the Bad Cactus Brass Band in the Grand Cabaret Ballroom at Sonoran Plaza. Bad Cactus is one of the best New Orleans' style bands in the Phoenix area. Patterning themselves in the 'second line' tradition (refers to the second line of musicians who follow the main parade and are known for their animated walk and musical style), this brass ensemble brings the quintessential New Orleans art form to every performance. Founded by sousaphonist Benjie Messer in 2009, members include many of the finest professional jass musicians in the area, performing funky street beats, traditional Dixieland, gospel, swing and pop. Presenting joyful energy and the signature sounds of Mardi Gras, the band has been showcased at some of the biggest festivals and musical venues in the Greater Phoenix area and their popularity is souring. Check out their music at: www.badcactusbrassband.com.

CIMARRON NIGHTCLUB presents
"A Tribute to Lettermen and Friends"
Friday March 16th
Cimarron Nightclub
Cash Bar - 6 pm
Performance - 7 pm
General Admission - $15
Event Coordinator:
Ken Pierick/(623) 214-9366 |
Cimarron Nightclub returns to a time when life was simpler, gas was cheap, and there really were jukeboxes. And no group better personifies those years than The Lettermen. With hits like When I Fall in Love, Theme from a Summer Place, and The Way You Look Tonight, the Jukebox Junkies channel their music in a tribute that will bring back wonderful memories. It is said of the Lettermen style that 'every note sends s Valentine' and you'll understand why after this performance. The Juke Box Junkies are all Grand residents: Terry Pierce sings tenor and plays guitar; Judy Foster sings tenor harmony; Donna Mills plays keyboard and sings harmony, and Marv Myhre sings bass and baritone lead. This performance is going to sell out quickly because Cimarron audiences love groups singing the songs of the 50's and 60's - and the Jukebox Junkies are among the best we've ever featured.
